Alatáriël looked at Ellroher after he had confirmed that Elvish flowers had grown but were in need of help. It was her help they needed. She stared the ground for a long while as if she were deep in thought. She finally looked at Ellroher again and said, "Looks like I will see to those flowers when we return to Rohan then."

Ellroher smiled and kissed her. "I know you will Alatariel. I know you will." They continued to walk through the garden and talk. After two hours, Ellroher wanted to go and check on his horse. "I know he's alright, but it's my upbringing. My father taughted me to check on my horse every day. That way I'd know if he is good to go at a moments knowtest." After quickly checking the horses, for Alatariel's horse was kept next to Ellroher's, they sat down on a balcony binch overlooking the waterfall. Ellroher put his arm around Alatariel and began to sing an elvish love song to her. Although he wasn't the best singer in Rivendell my any strech, he did his best. A few of the high notes caused his voise to crack which made him rather embarrest.

Alatáriël just smiled. Although they were human, the people of Rohan take deep pride in their horses and always took good care of them. She watched as he quickly checked over the horses. It seemed that both his and her horse were getting along quite well. Alatáriël curled up slightly next to Ellroher and laid her head on his shoulder. She gazed at the waterfall and smiled. It was one of the things she loved about Rivendell. She loved hearing the sounds of the waterfalls. She smiled grew as Ellroher sang to her. He may have thought he wasn't a good singer but she thought he sang well. She tried not to laugh when his voice cracked at the high notes.

Ellroher smiled when he heard Alatariel laugh. Although she was laughing at him, he still loved to hear her laugh. He kissed her forhead and layed his chin agianst her soft head. Birds sang in the trees and the constend soft splash of the waterfall was like music. Ellroher whispered softly, afraid that any sound might bring about a sudden end to the inchanting mellowdy, "I love you Alatariel. And I'm so happy that you desided to marry me."

"I know you do," Alatáriël whispered back. "And I love you." She smiled. She was glad that she had made him happy. As Ellroher placed his chin against her head, she shifted slightly and tucked her head right under his chin. The two sat silence for a long while just gazing at the landscape in front of them. Alatáriël sighed happily.

Ellroher was so realaxed that he hadn't realized an hour had passed sence they sat down. But he didn't care. He could have stayed there until tomarrow night and would have complained that it hadn't been long enough. But suddenly a voise called out, "Ellroher! Ellroher! Where are you?" Ellroher sat up and gave Alatariel an anoied look. "It's Elemmire." He said, rather agravated that his sister would interuped a special time like this. He was about to suggest that if they remained quiet, she might move on, but before the words even began to form, Elemmire came apond them at a dead run. "Ellroher there you are." She stoped out of breath before them and quickly tryed to regain her composer. Seeing their anoined looks, she started by apologizing. "I'm very sorry your hightness for interupting your time alone together, but I've been searching for you two for almost an hour. I only started yelling for you because I couldn't find you. I don't usally..." Ellroher raised his hand to stop her and as gentaly as he could but still cleary angry at his sister asked, "What is it Elemmire?" She stood streighter and said, "Mother. She's on her way. A rider arived to anonce her arivel. That was over an hour ago. For all I know, she might allready be here. That's why I was trying so hard to find you. I know you've been waiting to see her. I sorry that I had to inter..." Ellroher held up his hand agian to stop her from carring on. But his smile was genuen when he said, "Thank you, Elemmire. We'll be along in a moment. Go and see his mother has arived yet or not, please." Smiling back, Elemmire bowed and hurryed away to do as she was asked. Ellroher sighed and looked at Alatariel, "Shall we see if my mother has arived yet." His smiled grew misteveous and he added, "Or do you want to kill my sister first?"

Alatáriël and Ellroher sat in silience for a long time. No words were spoken between the two and the only sounds they heard were the falls and the birds. Until Elemmire came calling for her brother, breaking the silience. She was surprised as she suddenly appeared right before them. Alatáriël's eyes went a little wide hearing Elemmire's words. Their mother? She had nearly forgotten about that. She had a feeling this little meeting was going to be interesting and yet she really didn't know why. When Elemmire left, Alatáriël looked at Ellroher and said, "I think it's best we go see her." She say Ellroher's mischievous smile. "You are not killing anyone, let us just go and meet your mother."

Ellroher smiled thoughtfuly and led they way. As they reached the frount gate, a troup of horsemen rode in. Ellroher and Alatariel stood off to the side as they passed, scaning the faces for his mother. The riders stoped and dismounted. Elemmire suddenly rushed forward and wraped her arms tighty around a beautefull woman. The woman smiled and returned the embrace the asked her daughter a question. Ellroher was to far away to hear what was being said, but he could tell that it was about him. The woman's eyes went wide from somthing Elemmire said and she began to look around earestly. Ellroher let go of Alatariel's arm and ran other to his mother. She spied him heading her way and laughed as her son embrased her and spun her around. Finaly Ellroher sat her back down and said, "Mother. I'm so glad your here. There is someone I want you to meet." Ellroher motioned Alatariel forward and took her hand in his. "Mother, this is Alatariel, my fiancee." The woman looked Alatariel over then said. "I had heard that Rivendell needed a new Queen. And of all the people to pick, I'm glad they picked you. I know that you will keep Rivendell as it is. Full of life and music." She looked from Alatariel to Ellroher, and then back to Alatariel. Her lips slowly turned upward into a smile and then into a long happy laugh. "Though I've never had the chance to met you in person, your reputation is very well know. Oh, I should intorduce myself. I am Mirgil, daughter of Elrohir, son of Elrond. And I am very happy that you are going to marry my son."

Alatáriël just smiled as she watched the brief reunion between the two half-elves and their mother. For a moment something seemed rather odd to her but she really didn't know what it was. It's probably nothing. Alatáriël thought to herself. Alatáriël nearly came to a lose of words as Ellroher signaled for her to come forward to meet his mother. She could easily give a public speaking to every Elf if Imladris but she nearly couldn't find the words to speak to her soon to be mother-in-law. She felt her face flush at her words, something that rarely ever happened. She never really thought her reputation was that well known. After all, she was born just as a simple common Elf. But then again, she already had done a lot. Alatáriël smiled and bowed her head out of respect. She was happy that his mother approved. "It is a honor to meet you," she spoke softly.

Ellroher smiled happaly as Alatariel and his mother were introduced. He was realeved that his mother aproved, even though he knew she would. He sliped his hand into Alatariel's hand for incurigment. He could tell that she was a little surprised by his mother's praise of her and wanted her to know that it was alright. "We met at Dunharrow. She had set up a camp and was playing a flute and it aboslutly captured me." Ellroher looked down at Alatariel and smiled brodly, "I asked her to marry me before the sun came up." Mirgil suddenly bursted out laughing, which reseaved a questioning look from her son. "You are just like your father. It wasn't three days after we met that he preposed to me. And in the middle of a battle field." She laughed again and kissed her son. "Oh, I love you." She gave Alatariel a knowing wink before declaring, "But enough standing around in the middle of the street, I want to get this weeks werth of dirt off of me. Ellroher, Alatariel, I would love for you two to join me for dinner tonight. Say, 8:00." She ruseled Ellroher's hair and then left. Ellroher grumbled something as he smothed his hair back in place then turned to Alatariel. "Well, now you've met my mother. Was it as bad as you feared?"

Alatáriël briefly looked down at the ground then quickly picked her head back up as Ellroher told his mother the story of how they met. She cocked an eyebrow when the battle field was brought up. She thought Ellroher was jesting about it but clearly he wasn't. She wasn't sure what the wink was for either. Alatáriël just smiled lightly and said, "8:00 shall be fine." When Ellroher's mother left, she laughed as he tried to fix his hair. "I didn't fear anything. I just did not know what to expect."

Ellroher smiled as he took Alatariel's hand in his as they continued their strole of the city. Everywhere they went, people would stop them and congradulate them on their engagement and wish them a happy life. Ellroher and Alatariel finaly got away to a less crowled part of the city where they could again be alone for a while. But as they walked along, the peaceful sounds of birds were replaced by loud bangs. As they continued, it grew increasingly loulder. Finaly they came apond the sorce of the desterbince. It was the elven training grounds. Dozens of solders were trading blows with practice swords wile instructers gave tips and dimostrated diffrent moves. Ellroher stood and watched them for a moment, remebering when he was on of the students. But what really caught his attention was a large tree off to the side. It's branches were low enough that they could easaly be reached and one of the limbs offered a veiw of the entire grounds. Ellroher turned to Alatariel and asked, "Isn't that the tree you watched me from?"

Alatáriël smiled in return as they walked hand in hand through the city and stopped every so often to thank people who congratulated them. Wandering away from the busy city, they made their way towards the training grounds. Alatáriël looked up as Ellroher pointed out a specific tree. She smiled and answered, "Indeed it is." She still couldn't believe that it was him that she had watched all that time. She faced Ellroher and grinned. "So, in three days, your father proposed marriage, while you on the other hand, proposed the same night. Tell me something, what made you ask me the night we met?"

Ellroher smiled and started to answer, but then stoped and though about it. "I don't know." he said at last. "I think that it was because I had found a woman who I saw a strenght in that most others didn't have. I admit that it was kind of sudden and something I should have though long and hard about. But my heart told me that this was it. And I have always trusted my heart. It had never let me down before, so I listen to it and proposed." Ellroher smiled as he looked down into Alatariel's eyes and said, "And I've haven't regreted it yet."

Looking back into Ellroher's eyes, Alatáriël replied, "I am glad you haven't regreted it or anything." It would have really hurt her. "I too, should have probably thought long and hard before answering but as you said, I believed it was right. Despite the fact it was sudden, deep within my heart it felt right. I loved you and had no reason not to accept." She smiled.
