She glanced at him curiously as he spoke of a night. Obviously something bad happened, but his face indicated that he had resigned himself to the event and it didn't trouble him as much. "I actually did not grow up in a village," she corrected, "it was just my mother, who was an elf, and my father, a human. The both died on the same day; I raised myself after that. Mirkwood is dangerous; but only if you are foolish. I respect the danger of the forest, and in turn I live. It is the way of life."

"Well I wouldn't say that i grew up their either, but it was where I was born none the less. And if you don't mind me asking how did your parents die?" Fenrir was curious about her. She seemed strong on the outside like she was trying to prove something to the world.

Sentinel opened an eye at that. Glancing from the dark elf to Kayla with his silvery gaze, he made ready to move. The elf was treading on dangerous ground, asking so much. He hoped for the elf's sake that Kayla kept her cool.
"They were killed," she answered shortly, pinning him with a gaze from her blue-gray eyes that clearly indicated he should ask no more. Her past was her own; she did not share details, only general facts. Deep down she knew Fenrir was only curious, but she did not appreciate it.

Kayla's cold voice and harsh tone told him that she didn't want anymore questions. Overall it did not phase. He was not overly fond of conversation or of people for that matter. He had become cold and not much affected him. He said, "Well I am sorry for your loss if it means anything. I don't sleep well so I'll keep watch if you want? If you still don't trust I will just sit here none the less. And it would seem your dragon is very tired also. How old did you say he was?"

"It doesn't," she flatly responded. Kayla had long given up the sorrow and comfort that others offered; she had found that when people said they were sorry for her loss it really didn't mean anything - it was just a conversational nicety that had lost all meaning and depth. "I do not sleep well either," she replied in a slightly less hostile tone, "and it is my watch; I take responsibility for it." Plus, she knew the elf would have a conniption fit if he found out she let the dark elf keep watch. No trust there. As for Kayla, well, she didn't trust anyone. Nothing personal, just the way things were. "Sentinel is ten," she continued, "and he is not tired. He is merely aware that if you block out unnecessary senses, sight in this case, the other senses will strengthen, such as hearing and scent. If something were to slip past my detection, he would certainly pick it up."

"Hmm interesting," Fenrir replied, "most dragons can't stand the sight of humans or elf and despise them. He must be very unique, not in a bad way." Fenrir realized saying he was unique sounded worse than what he ment. Fenrir sat in silence. He cherished the silence and the night. He loved them both and having them at the same time is even better. Tonight is not a full moon but Fenrir knew it would be coming up in the near future. He could feel the beast in him growing.

"Yes," she said, "He is very unique. I found him just after he had hatched; not knowing other dragons may have helped. But he isn't really friendly; he only tolerates the elf and the human, the only one he really likes is the girl, the human's daughter," she explained. Scanning the forest line, she listened intently for any signs of pursuit. No unusual sounds could be heard, and Sentinel was silently listening. The moon was waxing full; Kayla loved full moons, with their etheral beauty and silvery light. She kept watch over the small group, Fenrir awake and gazing at the stars. For now, all was peaceful.

Fenrir thought for a moment as he looked at the stars. There was something about them he liked. He could jsut stare at them for hours. "Dragons can talk like us can't they?" Fenrir asked while looking at the stars. They always made him think and wonder. Not jsut about small but about everything. About what might happen tommorrow, about what might happened if people come and attack. He knew he couldn't transform in front of them, they would shun him like everyone else. He is very able with a sword but is only self taught. He listened intently for anything.

"Yes," she affirmed silently. Sentinel could indeed speak in words most would understand, but he rarely did. For some reason, the two of them communicated through thoughts, not words, so the occasions he had actually opened his mouth and spoken were few and far between. Kayla glanced furtively over at Fenrir. He seemed strong, capable, and completely shut out from the world's opinions. Not so unlike herself. Her past was something few would forgive, much less accept. A rustle sounded behind her and she was alert, whipping around silently to face the intruder. Two twin orbs of reflective green lights shone back at her, and she realized it was only a small red fox, curious as to the inhabitants of the dwelling. In a few seconds the red coat faded into the surroundings, and Kayla turned again, listening intently for any more disturbances.

Fenrir jsut sat in silence in the night. He say Kayla tence up in the corner of his eye and saw her turn around. He quickly got up with his sword half pulled out of it's sheeth ready to fight. He then saw it was a red fox and settled back down. He then continued gazing at the stars wondering what the near future nights would bring.

Kayla kept watch through the night, Sentinel curled at her feet, both waiting for any signs of pursuit. But there were none. The morning mist crept in undisturbed, wreathing the forest in hues of gray and silver. Beads of dew glistened from every distinct blade of grass, every fluttering leaf, every surface exposed. Kayla's dark curly hair became damp, and she could see the tiny rainbow pinpoints thrown out by Sentinel's small silver scales. Slowly, almost imperceptively, the weak rays of sunshine began to work their way through the treetops, scattering the etheral mist and warming the earth. As the sun rose higher, the sky turned from black to light purple, then finally to red and then a faint blue. Right now, the sky was that strange almost white shade that can only be seen right after daybreak. Leaning against a tree, Kayla waited for the camp to awaken.

Fenrir didn't sleep at all that night. He watched as the mist and sunshine came in silence. He never liked daybreak. It always ment sun and light. Fenrir fancied niether. He waited for Kayla or another camp member to say something.

Sentinel shifted as the dawn rays hit his body. Uncurling, he stretched silently, opening his wings to their six foot span. Folding them back, he shimmied up into a tree, going to do a perimeter scan and hopefully catch something as well.
The horses began to stir, shifting thier weight from leg to leg after a night of standing. One reached down and began to graze on the stubbly grass in the small clearing. Kayla, her back a bit stiff, walked over to them. Stroking their noses, she murmured greetings to them as the sun rose higher. "Elf, it's time to get up," she said quietly, looking at the sleeping forms.

Fenrir watched as everything came back to life at the suns command after the night. He sat there silently, watching as Kayla awoke the other elf. As the moon faded with the night the beast in him grew more subtle and silent. Only a small amount of wild instinct remaind as the full moon drew closer with each passing day.

Neurion followed Feladron past a few tents, one which had the wolven banner of Dunland fluttering in the wind; he guessed that was his tent. Feldaron entered a tent and Neurion followed behind him, inside the tent at the centre was a table covered in papers and different objects, this was where Feladron sat so Neurion took a seat at the other side and waited for him to speak.
