Alatáriël said nodded her head in agreement. She could only guess that Haldir was torn between his duties and the love for his daughter, but she knew he could not turn away from his kin when they were in need. She would just have to watch over him. She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I understand. But do be sure to explain everything to her. She is still young and I fear she may not fully understand but do not make any promises."

"I will," he said, already wondering how Itarildë will react. She was an unpredictible child, so he couldn't imagine what she would say to it. "I am sure many here will be glad to look after her while I am away." He stood up. "When will we be departing then, my lady?"

"As soon as possible," Alatáriël answered also standing up. She walked over towards the window and looked outside, as if though she were studying the landscape. Their army numbers were now on the low side and with both rulers leaving, she wasn't going to take any chances with Rivendell's safety. "We shall gather 1000 of our archers and swordsman. The remaining 1000 will stay and guard the realm."

"Are you sure that is best my Lady?" Ellroher had walked in towards the end of the discussion but had heard enought to know what was going on. He walked over to her side and said, "I have never fought against dwarves before, but I have fought with them. Their armor is thick and near imperveous to arrows. The best way to fight them would be to use our longer reach to our advantige. Spears and swords will be the best thing to use." Ellroher turned to Haldir and asked, "What do you think Sir?"

Alatáriël turned as Ellroher walked into the room and approached her, questioning her decision. No. She wasn't really sure if it was the best. She only really guessed since she honestly had really no idea how to deal with dwarves. She just shook her head realizing she had made a fool out herself. She walked around the room with her arms crossed. She looked at the floor as she walked as if she were in thought. She finally looked at Haldir awaiting his answer. "Haldir?"

An emissery from Lindon ran into the hall and hastily knelt before the Ruler of Mirkwoods feet. "The dark dwarf Gurath Ironclaw has laid seige to the realm of Lindon. Surley this is an attack againsed all of Elvendom!!!! My Lord Cirdan calls on you and ALL elves to aid us in defending our realm!!!!" (I've sent messangers to all the other elf realms as well. This time we won't be alone.)

"Lindon now?!" Alatáriël said in shock. She pounded her fist onto the arm of the throne and cursed lightly to herself. What could these dwarves possibly want? First The Shire, now Lindon, who was next? She rose to her feet and replied, "Tell Lord Círdan that I will most certainly aid the Elves of Lindon. We cannot let those dwarves take a hold of the realm." (Well, just hope that they reply, none have been really active for quite some time now)

"We will go to Lindon first," said Haldir, slightly startled by Alátariël's rage. "Likely, there are already reinforcements at the Shire to hold the dwarves back. We must go to our own people."
(Sorry guys!)

Alatáriël looked at Haldir, realizing that her shudden outburst had startled him. "My apologies," she said before she stepped down from her throne and paced around. "No, I fear they have taken over the Shire." Her Elves had only just returned from battle and now they were being called to aid once again. "We must make haste and prepare the army to ride out at once."
(It's alright Haldir, I know you've been busy)

"If the Shire is already overrun, then we can do nothing," insisted Haldir. "If Lindon is overrun by the dwarves also, then the Gulf of Lhûn will be sealed from us, and Eriador will also be in danger. We must ride with them, my lady. Will we send our entire lot? They say that the dwarven armour is forged from impenetrable mithril still."
(Thanks! I'll try to get on at least once a day or every other day *nod*)

"No, we cannot possibly send the entire army," said Alatáriël. "Although our numbers are small, we must leave some behind. I cannot leave the realm unguarded. If I could, I would send them all but it cannot be done, it is too reckless." She paused for a moment then continued. "If the Dwarves have already begun their attack, then we do not have much time."
(That would be good)

"I fear that we may have to let Lindon fall." said Ellroher. His hands were clenched tightly into fists that were turning white. He turned to Alatariel and continued. "Even if we sent all the armies of Rivendell, Lindon will still fall. There are too many." He unclenched his fists and said, "We must prepare Rivendell for an attack. After Lindon, the dwarves will most certanly go after Rivendell. Though Lord Cirdan will not want to leave his city unfought, his best bet would be to retreat by ships, sail away from Lindon, then land somewhere safe and regroop here. With the combinded strenght of Lindon and Rivendell, we will be able to regroop and plan a counter strike when the terms favor us." Ellroher looked at Alatariel and very sadly said, "Alatariel, don't sent the troops."

Alatáriël stared at Ellroher with wide eyes. "Let it fall?! Are you mad!" She just stood there, staring at him as he continued to speak. She said nothing. The last thing she wanted to think about was her own realm under attack, but the possibly was great. Although, she was needed to defend her own, she had to go to the aid to her kin in other realms. It had been proven that the enemy's numbers were too large and there just wasn't enough Elves. "Having them sail away is easier said then done, where could they go? You may as well just ask them to leave these shores for good." Alatáriël turned and sat down on her throne. She sighed. For once, she didn't know what to do. It was like a burden weighing heavily on her shoulders. She leaned forward and rested her face in her hands. She wanted to weep but she to keep it in.

Ellroher looked at the floor for a moment then said, "The Dwarves will concure Lindon. Weather we sent aid or not, they will win. After Lindon, I belive that they will strike Rivendell next. We don't have enough troops to defend ourselfs. We'll have even less if you sent them to aid Lindon." Ellroher walked to the window and staired out over the city. After a long moment of silence, Ellroher spoke again. "I'm going back to Rohan." He turned back to face Alatariel before contenuing, "I'm going back to Rohan to get some help. Rivendell will need it when she is attacked. You need to prepare to receve any survivers from Lindon and for the Dwarves next attack. I'll return as soon as I can." Without another word, Ellroher left the Throne room and headed to the stables to get his horse.

Alatáriël only nodded as Ellroher turned and left the Throne Room. She still felt what she was doing was wrong. Abandoning her own kin in another realm to defend her own. At times she wished that she had left Middle Earth during the war when she had the chance. She turned and sat down on her throne once gain. She sighed, She wanted to tell herself that she was not capable of this but she had to hold it in and be strong. She had to be the strongest. She leaned back and lightly tapped her fingernails on the arm of the throne. She became lost in hre thoughts on how exactly she how she should prepare.
