Haldir smiled. "Thank you, my Lady.. I think I will!" he said, sitting himself down beside her. "I have been absent from Rivendell for quite some time.." he said. "How have things been getting along?"

"It just seems like it is empting out more and more everyday. Though many still remain here, but not as much as there was before the War of the Ring." she said while thinking back to how Rivendell used to so full of life. "I had my chance to leave then but I chose to stay and fight. "She paused for a moment then spoke again. "It pains me to watch this land empty before my eyes. I do not know if I will ever leave here. I have heard when an Elf looks upon the sea, they desire to sail. I myself have seen the sea, but I have never heard it call to me."

Haldir knew just how much Alatariel was attached to her land and her people. "Fear not, my lady.. your time will come when you will find fit to leave.. right now your people need you and you can feel it." He knew he sounded very bold, but he knew Alatariel would know that he meant her comfort.

Alatariel let out a small smile. She knew he tried to comfort her with the best words he could think of. "You are right, but it is a possibility that my time may not come for awhile. My work here is not finished. I cannot leave until every last Elf in this city is safely lead to the Havens, then I know my work is finished and it is then I shall take my leave."
It was not long before the guard had returned with 400 builders ready and waiting to leave. Alatariel smiled and rose from her throne and looked at Haldir. “Well then, are you ready to head out?”

A messenger from Cerian of Arnor arrived and bowed before the Queen. "Thanks to your aid in our project, the city of Annuminas has been completed. We are holding a feast and celebration in the city for its opening, and your presence, or of representatives from your court, would be greatly appreciated." The messenger waited for a reply.

"Your are most welcome, we were glad to be able to help." Alatariel replied with a small smile. "I would be honored to attend, when shall the feast take place?"

A messenger bearing the blue coat of arms of Lindon entered the throne room. "My lord Cirdan the Shipwright sends greetings to the Queen of Rivendell and a request for an alliance as there was isn the days of Elrond." The messanger held his breath as he waited for a reply.

Alatariel smiled and replied, "Rivendell would be honored to rejoin the alliance with Lindon. The Elven Realms must always be united during peace and in times of need."

A messanger of Lindon rushed into the throneroom of Imardis. After bowing to the Queen he spoke in a loud clear vioce "We have been betrayed!!! Just as they assulted Doraith the dwarves have assulted the Shire. My Lord, Cirdan, calls for your aid to battle these traitors and send them back to there mountain halls!!!"

Alatáriël's eyes widen upon hearing the messenger's words. "So there are traitors amongst us then? Well this is certainly ill news." The Shire was a peaceful land and the last place she thought one would attack. "Tell Lord Círdan that I will take part in aiding the folk of The Shire."

Haldir's brows drew together as he sat silently beside Alatáriël, not quite believing what he was hearing. The Shire, of all places? And Dwarves? But they were supposed to be peaceful by this age. It was now clear that such folk would never change their ways. He turned to look at the Lady when she put her sword in. "Bring back our word to Lord Círdan," he said to the messenger, "that I will also take part in this battle, as will the able Elves of Imladris. If that is agreeable with the Lady?" He waited for her approval.

The messanger bowed graciously "Cirdan thanks you for your grace. Know that we will wait for you to arrive before attacking."

Alatáriël looked at Haldir as he too, volunteered to take part in the battle. She didn't want to deny his wish to aid his kin but she believed the biggest responsibility he had on his shoulders was being a father. She didn't think be belonged on the battlefield. She questioned his decision. "Haldir my friend, are you sure of your choice?"

Haldir nodded slowly. "I am sure. I know what you are thinking, my Lady..." he said, also thinking of Itarildë. "But having a daughter does not mean that I must abandon all of my duties. I must act as both... a father and a soldier. Watching over and protecting my kin and my daughter are both just as important to me. Itarildë must understand this." He turned to the messenger and stood up, giving a little bow in return. "We will make haste," he said assuringly.
