Kayla nodded in assent. "Yes, I think it would be good to keep a constant fire going. Though," she said with a glance at the giant conflagration, "maybe on a slightly smaller scale. And do not worry about it. She is just as much your dragon as mine; you paid for her, after all. Plus, you have much more experience in the care of dragons." Throwing a few more logs on the fire, away from Dariah, Kayla sat down again, one leg stretched out in front of her.
Beating his wings four times for every one stroke of Bamini's, the smaller, more agile dragon replied, 'She is a fighter, to be sure. Dariah seems to have a mind of her own; I think she will do quite well in the wild, despite all the hardships.' Spying a lone deer with his keen eyes, Sentinel dropped like a rock upon it's back, crunching its spine instantly. What do you think of her? he asked curiously.

I think she'll get herself killed in a pointless fight, probebly about houner, the freedom of her kin or some other such notion. Bamini replied, proveing who had influenced brought him up. He inspected Sential's deer and nodded, Sorry, i'm a bit hungry, and a little bit bigger than you so... He flew off. About ten minuts later he emerged dragging a stag back to the clearing, its head was rippped off I'm not as neat as you He explained shamefacedly
"Get some sleep, you've been watching for days and you look awful. Oh, and it might be a good idea not to tell her she's a brought dragon"

More than likely, though for now we should make sure she stays in the mountains; the larger she grows, the harder it will be for her to be killed, Sentinel said. He regarded the slain stag with a mix of jealously and awe. Well, I couldn't do that if I tried, he said, ripping off a rib and gnawing off the thick red meat.
Rubbing her eyes sleepily, Kayla admitted, "Okay, I'll get some sleep. And I definetely will not tell her that. Judging from how she has acted so far, she wouldn't take it well." Wrapping her traveling cloak around herself, she laid down, slightly curled up, resting her curly head on her backpack. In a few minutes she had entered into a deep sleep, though no telling for how long that would last.

Crunching a leg bone, Sentinel replied, I eat it either way. Cooked is more savory and warm, but raw meat is good for energy and strength. The blood helps intellect and power. Or at least that's whay I think. Overall I just don't turn down any sort of food, he concluded. Already he was halfway through the deer, ripping off dripping chunks of meat with his sharp teeth and swallowing them whole. So what was it like living in the temple, always surrounded by people? he asked curiously, didn't you ever want to be in the wild, to hunt for yourself?

Yes...and no. I hated always haveing to be so perfect, and not being able to be myself, but now i'm out here i don't really no what to do, and i miss the people and the day to day life. Everything was certain, even if a little boreing at times. he answered honestly

Stopping his feasting for a moment, Sentinel considered this revelation. Slowly, he nodded his triangular head. I can understand that, I suppose. If Kayla wasn't here I don't know what I would do. Back in Mirkwood, where I was raised, I mostly hunted or explored. Only recently have Kayla and I been traveling. But I don't really know what wild dragons do with their time, he mused.

Hmmm, well in the stories we are also always evil, Sentinel pointed out, beginning to work on the thigh meat, and we are not, so I say we do whatever we want. Though I do like treasure. I would never kill anyone for it, though he assured. His treasure trove was just a few trinkets: a ring, a golden necklace, and a few semi-precious stone he had found in the forest. Nothing too impressive. He made a mental note to get them from Kayla; they were carried in her backpack. Mountains like these must be full of undiscovered jewels, Sentinel said, stopping his feast for a moment and looking at the stony cliffs.

I was a gaurdien of treasure, but i was protecting it for the God, i don't have any of my own. Bamini was now eyeing the cliffs with him The only trouble would be the digging he said thoughfully

Must have been hard, looking at all that glittering richness and not have any of your own, Sentinel commented. Digging? When we have all those vast unexplored caves to look in? I am sure there is plenty of stuff in there; plus if we do dig, it would be better to expand the caves, to take advantage of the natural faults in the rock. Much easier than trying to dig through solid, undisturbed stone Finishing his deer with a last swallow, Sentinel closed his eyes for a second in satisfaction. Opening them again, he gazed out over the forest, his eyes silvery pinpoints of light. I think I will go catch another rabbit, or maybe a bird, for Dariah. Hatching is a lot of work

Certainly, Sentinel assented. Jumping into the air, he was airborne with a few powerful thrusts of his silvery wings. I'll hunt from the air; the beasts around here are accustomed to ground attacks.
Kayla's body lay curled on the cave floor, warmed by the crackling fire. Her mind, however, was in a completely different place. Over the mountains, across the plains, and into another time and place, in the forest, surrounded by lush greeness and familiarity. The river trickled nearby; laughter sounded. Two laughs, actually, mingling as one. But never again. A single tear traced down her cheek as she dreamed; dreams were the only places she cried. Tears were of no use in the real world.

Morwen watched Kayla with intrest. The girl was crying. Morwen had only ever creid once; when she'd killed her sister for treason. People didn't cry in her presence, and so she looked at Kayla as an unknown phenomonan.
Bamini nodded and took off, he however flew through the trees just above the undergrowth, to scare out anything that mioght be hideing.

Sentinel pounced on a fat pheasant fluttering up from the scraggly bushes. With a triumphant growl, he grasped it's neck between his sharp claws, killing it instantly. Beating his wings, he soared above the trees and towards the gaping maw of the cave.
Dariah woke from her flickering bed, stirring her wings. She peered out between the curtains of flames. The other dragons, Sentinel and Bamini, she recalled, were gone. The two humans were still here. Morwen, the older one, was nearby, watching something. Following her gaze, Dariah noted that the younger one, Kayla, was asleep, curled in a ball. A silvery bead fell from her cheek, and Dariah was intruigued. What was that? Stepping from the coals, she stretched her neck out to get a closer look.
