"Nay, he is not," Alatáriël said. "He was cast into a timeless void long ago. And Ard-galen.." Alatáriël reached over for another book, a rather large book, one that contained various drawings of maps and flipped through the pages. "Was a wide green plain that lay north in the land of Beleriand," she answered opening to a map of the land. "It was the region of northwestern Middle-earth during the First Age."
Alatáriël's head jerked up when she heard the door open and there stood Arwen along with little Elemmire. She laughed at Arwen's comment, then looked over at Ellroher and ruffled his hair. "You will find out someday," she said. Alatáriël then said to Arwen, "He was no bother, really. And to be honest, I have never actually told a story to any elfling before." She knew young Ellroher had a difficulty with sitting still, whatever had gotten him to do so now, she didn't know. "Perhaps he will now learn to improve on that habit of sitting still," Alatáriël added then stood after Ellroher had climbed down from her lap and followed his aunt and sister. She picked up the books to place them back on the shelves when the elfling turned to thank her. Alatáriël smiled and replied, "You are quite welcome." She walked as he ran out of the room then she went back to putting away books and walked back into the study when she had finished.

Two days later, Ellroher walked down the hall and looked around. There was nobody to be seen. His father and uncle had ridden off somewhere and his mother was making a new dress for his sister. That left him with nothing to do but study his reading. Board with the simple stories he was suppost to be reading, Ellroher had left his room and had wondered down to hall where he had met that nice lady. He stood before the door to the study room again. Wondering if he should go in. Cureosity got the best of him so he opened the door and went inside.
He saw no one. Being extra careful not to touch anything, Ellroher quitly walked through the room to the one of the adjoing rooms. Ellroher found himself inside a long curving room with a several sculputers. On the wall were several banners and murals. The murals showed a great battle. Ellroher walked along slowly staring at the picture of elves and what he guested were men. He saw a banner that he acually reconized. "Grand-father." He breathed. He was getting excited now. His grand-father must have fought in this battle. He kept walking, hoping that he would see a picture or his grand-father. He saw one that really puzzled him. A man, it looked like a man, was laying beside another man. He was holding a broken sword. A evil looking monster was reaching for him but the man had cut off the monster's fingers. Turning around, he was a statue holding something. Slowly, Ellroher inched closer. The statue was holdeing a broken sword. He turned back to look at the picture again. "This is that sword." Ellroher whispered. He knew that he shouldn't touch the sword. He proably shouldn't even be here alone. But he found that his little hand was streaching out towards the big sword. But before he could touch it, he heard a door open and close. Ellroher jumped away from the sword stood against the wall, lisening. He heard soft footsteps in the other room. Ellroher creped towards the room and peeked in. It was that lady again. Gathering up his curige, Ellroher steped into the room and said," Hello lady Alatariel. Can you tell me about the battle that took place in the next room?"

Alatáriël leaned back comfortably on a lounge chair with her hands behind her head, just staring up at the ceiling. She rested her feet on a pillow and shifted slightly, as if though trying to make herself more comfortable. A cool breeze blew into the room from the window right next to her. She turned her head slightly and glanced out the window. The sky was beginning to change to shades of orange and yellow. The sun would set soon. Alatáriël thought about heading home soon. However, she snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the sound of little footsteps walking around outside the room. Ellroher was roaming the halls again as always. Alatáriël picked her head up and looked towards the door. She knew he stood outside the door briefly before he finally stepped inside with another question for her.
"The battle in the next room?" Alatáriël said with a cocked eyebrow and sat up. She wasn't sure if she fully understood what he was asking. She followed the young elf into the next room. The floor was cool underneath her feet. Alatáriël gazed around the murals painted on the walls then realized what he was asking. "The Last Alliance," she whispered. She noticed that his eyes were really focused on the painting of his grandfather. Personally, she thought that this was something he should be asking Elrond instead of her since he knew it all too well. "Aye, that is your grandfather," Alatáriël said. "and he did fight in this battle." She then looked over to the next painting and lead Ellroher to it. A man holding up the broken sword, raising it against a great beast. She pointed to the man. "Isildur, Son of Elendil. Elendil was the founder and first king of Arnor and Gondor." She pointed to the beast. "And this is Sauron, the dark lord after Morgoth."
(I'll part 2 this the next post, there's too much to write and plus I'm too tired to write more)

Little Ellroher shuttered a little at the mention of Morgoth. He had asked his father about him and had been absolutly scared out of his skin with the stories his father told him. But he was also cureous. He wanted to know more. "Where are Arnor and Gondor? Are they close to Imladris?" He was trying to reamain calm, but his was practicly jumping with excitement. What had Alatariel called it, the Last Alliance. The Last Alliance of what?
"Did grandfather defeat Sauron? Where did Sauron come from?" He was asking so many questions so fast and jumping up and down with excitement that he triped on a step and fell down. Looking embarest, he slowly got up and glance behind him. He froze suddenly. Behind him was that broken sword he had almost touched earlyer. Turning back to Alatariel, Ellroher asked in a whisper, "Is that the sword that Isildur used?" Glanceing over to the right of the sword he saw another display he hadn't knowtest before. On it was the bigest and most beauteful elven spear Ellroher had ever seen. "Whose spear is that?" He asked.

Where are Arnor and Gondor? Are they close to Imladris? Alatáriël laughed. It was a good thing she enjoyed looking at maps because she was sure she would be pulling out numerous ones for a while. "Arnor is a realm that lays west of Imladris and Gondor is another realm that lays far south of here, bordering Mordor from the west," Alatáriël said, pulling out the maps and pointing out their locations.
Did grandfather defeat Sauron? Where did Sauron come from? "No, it was not your grandfather that defeated Sauron," replied Alatáriël. "It was Isildur who had defeated the Dark Lord. And where he came from, Sauron was one of the Maiar who was ensnared by Morgoth." Seeing Ellroher jumping up and down and tripping on the step, Alatáriël noted to herself that he had a bit of a clumsy nature, especially when he was excited.
Is that the sword that Isildur used? "Aye, is it young one, I do not want you touching that either, 'tis very sharp and you could injure yourself, then I would be hearing words from your grandfather for not keeping a better watch over you. Now you wouldn't want to get me into any trouble now would you?" Alatáriël said grinning and gently pinched Ellroher's cheek.
Alatáriël watched as Ellroher gazed at the spear, appearing to be quite fascinated with it. She took a hold of his little hand, keeping him at her side, just to be sure he would not try to touch it. "That is Gil-galad’s spear," she answered. "You must not touch it though, surely your grandfather must have told you that." Little Ellroher did have a habit of looking with his hands instead of just his eyes. She had noticed that his father tried to break him of that habit but did not appear to have much success. Ellroher just seemed to like touching everything he sees, particularly sharp items such as weapons. Those he liked to get up close and just look at them for periods of time. Alatáriël wondered if he was growing some kind of interest in weaponry.

Ellroher paid close attention to everything Alatariel said. He was very much enjoying himself. Alatariel seemed to have an answer to all his questions. He liked it when people were able to answer his questions. He was a very cureous elfling who wanted to know everything. "No!" Ellroher said quickly, "I don't want to get you in trouble. I promous never to touch the swords." Although Ellroher usaly hated when adults made him hold their hand, he hardly knowtested when Alatariel took his and showed him the great spear. He looked at the beautifull spear and wished that he was old enought to have one like it. But he promoused Alatariel that he wouldn't touch it so he didn't try to. Ellroher looked up at Alatariel and asked, "You sure know a lot about Grandfather and this battle. Were you there?"

Alatáriël smiled. "Nay, young one," she said. "I was not there, for I had not been born yet. I am not as old as I may appear to be in mind. I only happen to be knowledgeable because I am studying with your grandfather. If you really want to know about the battle, you would be better off asking Lord Elrond about it, but I cannot guarantee he will tell you everything." Alatáriël was amazed by Ellroher's behavior. He would pay attention and listen closely to everything she said, but he often did not listen to his own family. She often wondered why. Although it was not uncommon for a child to find an adult figure to look up to. Alatáriël laughed to herself it would have appeared he found that in her.

Ellroher was having so much fun learning about this huge battle that he had complealy lost track of time. He was just about to ask if Alatariel if there were any more rooms like this one were he could listen to more stories about ancient battles when his mother walked into the room. "Ellroher! What are you doing in here? Your not suppost to be roaming around by yourself in Grandfather's study rooms." Ellroher quickly said, "But I'm not by myself. I'm with Lady Alatariel. She was telling me all about the great battle that Grandfather was in and how he helped to defeat Saron, and of the countryes of Ardor and Gonor, and this is Isules broken sword here, I did touch it! I promoused Lady Alatariel that I would not touch it so she wouldn't get in trouble from Grandfather for letting me in here and telling be all about the battle." Ellroher spoke fast and was practicly jumping up and down with excitement. Mirgil stared at her son a moment then burst out laughing. "My precious Ellroher, you are way too much like your father." She turned to Alatariel and said, "Ellroher certenly has taken a likeing to you. You certenly seem to know how to keep his attention." She laughed again. "I am sorry if he has bothered you, I know that your studing with Lord Elrond." She took Ellroher's hand and in hers and said, "Your father is back Ellroher, you should tell him all you learned from Alatariel today." She turned back to Alatariel and added, "Thank you for telling him all that. He really loves to hear stroyies about the great battles and of weapons and the like." She smiled and sighed, "He really is going to be like his father when he grows up." As the left, Ellroher stoped and said, "Thank you Lady Alatariel, I'll come back again soon and learn more from you."

(Wow, what a typing mess lol, did you rush or something?)
Alatáriël laughed as Ellroher spoke fast and jumped up and down. "Whoa now, settle down young one," she said. "You will get yourself a little too riled up." Ellroher certainly has taken a liking to you. You certainly seem to know how to keep his attention. I am sorry if he has bothered you, I know that your studying with Lord Elrond. Alatáriël looked at Mirgil and shook her head. "Nay, Lady Mirgil," she said. "He is not that much of a bother." She ruffled Ellroher's hair and smiled. "Aye, I do not know why he has taken a liking to me, but at least that someone around here is able to get him to pay attention." Alatáriël looked down at the elfling. "You should pay more attention to your family and not always just listen to me," she told Ellroher. "Honor and respect them, now off you go," she added gesturing for him to go to his mother and Mirgil took his hand. Thank you for telling him all that. He really loves to hear stories about the great battles and of weapons and the like. "I have noticed that," Alatáriël said. "He wants to be able to take in whatever he can learn, but I can only tell him so much." He really is going to be like his father when he grows up. Alatáriël laughed and shook her head. Growing up with the twins, she could only imagine what would happen if that was to become. As Mirgil lead Ellroher away, he turned around and said, "Thank you Lady Alatáriël, I'll come back again soon and learn more from you." She laughed. Alatáriël knew he would be coming back for a long time. "Your welcome, little Ellroher," she said and waved before mother and child disappeared around the corner.

(Not in a hurry, Just trying to represent a little kid who just learned a bunch of new words. He's so excited to tell his mother all about it that he mixes the names up and says them wrong.)
A few weeks later, Ellroher and his sister were down by the hidden pool playing. Ellroher was telling her everything he had learn from lady Alatariel about the great war that their grandfather had fought in. "Grandfather was second in command under the High King Gil-galad." Ellroher was saying, "The battle lasted a very long time. There were piles of dead orcs 30 ft. high." Ellroher raised his arms and stood on his tiptoes to show just how big that would be. "Grandfather and the men of Numenor pushed the orcs all the way back to the Mountain of Doom." Ellroher grew quiet. "Then, Saron came." Little Elemmire gasped and held her doll closer to her.
Ellroher looked around, as if about to tell a great secrit. "Saron slew the High King Gil-galad, then killed Elendil, the King of Numenor and broke his sword." Elemmire's hands were white she held the doll so tightly. She trimbled as her brother continued with his story. "All seemed lost, and then... AHHHH!" Ellroher screemed making Elemmire screem. "AHHH!!" Ellroher waited for Elemmire to stop screeming before continuing. "Isiludor cut the Ring of Power off Saron's hand with the broken sword of his father and defeated Saron." Elemmire smiled and claped, "Yay!" Ellroher bowed. "You tell the best stories Ellroher. Tell me another one." But Ellroher just shook his head. "I'm tired of telling stories right now, Elemmire. Why don't we go swiming." "Yea!" His sister always agreed with whatever her brother said. "Last one in has to kiss an orc!" Ellroher cryed as he pushed his sister over and made a dash for the water. "Ellroher!" Elemmire whined, "Thats not fare!" as she raced after him.

(Oh okay. It kind of looks like my drunk typing lol. Were you letting him type the post or what?)
Alatáriël made her way down one the may paths of Imladris, dressed in simple tunic and pants, bearing a sword on her belt, a bow in hand and a quiver filled of arrows on her back. She had some free time on her hands, away from work and study. She decided to make good use of that time and head on over to the training grounds and archery court and put in as much leisurely training at she possibly could. She had been itching to get some in for a while now anyway and plus her father would have said something to her sooner of later. Being the daughter and of former long time warrior, he wanted her to train in fighting. He never really said why, but on the other hand, Alatáriël said asked why either. But her father assured that it would be useful to her in the future. What she really wanted to do what head and slay some Orcs.
Alatáriël stopped at one of the rivers and scooped out a bit of the water with her hand and took a drink. Rivers and streams in the Elven realms were among the cleanest in Middle-earth and were safe to drink from. She crossed over the river and passed by the hidden pool, where she did not noticed the young elflings Ellroher and Elemmire playing in the water.
Arriving at the training grounds, Alatáriël set her weapons down on the ground and requested that the trainers have a moving target prepared when she was ready to use it. The trainers on the grounds of Imladris where among the best in the realm for they were master swordsman and archers and were known for giving one a hard training. Training that only became less hard once one had figured out their moves, which wasn't easy. It was less difficult to Alatáriël for she had already had long years of training with her father and it was he who suggested something a little tougher for her to take on. Although it seemed harsh, Alatáriël did not mind it. She enjoyed a good challenge here and there.
Deciding to start off easy and move up the more difficult training, she began with a still target in the archery range, just to warm up before the use of the moving targets. Although it seemed to easy and pointless, her father always told her that warming up was a wise choice. She understood why now. Alatáriël tied her long, dark hair back into a braid to keep it out of her way, she then picked up her bow and a single arrow. She lined her bow and pulled back, taking aim at the target. She held her position for a couple of moments then released the arrow, hitting the target right in the center.

Ellroher and Elemmire swam in the water for almost an hour before growing hungry. Elemmire desided to return to her room and find something to eat but Ellroher had other ideas. When Elemmire left, he headed down the trail towards the training grounds. He loved watching the solders sparing and training and longed for the day when he would be old enough to join them. Sometimes the captain Hadi, would let Ellroher stand beside him as he instructed the solders. He would explain diffrent moves and counter moves for him to learn. Ellroher loved watching the fighting almost as much as he liked listening to Lady Alatariel tell him stories of old battles.
When Ellroher reached the training grounds he saw captain Hadi and ran over to him. "Hi Captain Hadi. What are you doing?" asked Ellroher. Captain Hadi turned and held a finger to his lips. Ellroher imedeitly became very still and quite. "I'm teaching archery today. And the solders can't consentrate on shooting if your noise." Ellroher nodded his understanding and turned to watch. He watched the archers line up and fit an arrow to their bows. Then as one, they let the arrows fly and each one hit their mark. Ellroher claped, "They all hit their target." Captain Hadi smiled and patted Ellroher's head. "Yes they did. It won't be long before your shooting with them Ellroher. You father has already talked to me about finding some gear for you to use." Ellroher's eyes grew wide. "Really? Some gear for me? When? Have you found it yet? I'm ready captain Hadi! I'm ready to start training!" Hadi laughed. "Settle down kid. Settle down. You'll get to start soon. Don't you worry. You just have to wait a few more years, then you'll be old enough to start. Now, I've got work to do and I can't have you distracting the solders. Run along now." Ellroher nodded and looked around to see if their was anybody else around that he might talk to and not be in the way.
He suddenly knowtest Lady Alatariel shooting at another set of targets away from the rest. Excited, Ellroher hurried over to her and said, "Lady Alatariel! I didn't know that you fought too?"

Lady Alatariel! I didn't know that you fought too? Alatáriël laughed to herself. She could hear the excitement in the young elfling's voice, happy to see her as always. She wondered is he had ever know of a female that was trained in the skill of fighting. "Although I am trained to fight, little Ellroher," Alatáriël began as she walked over to the target. "I have been in no battle," she added, pulling out the arrow and walked back to her place. "So, I hear you will be starting your training soon." Alatáriël grinned wickedly. "Won't that be a disaster." She then looked at Ellroher and laughed, then quickly said, "Oh, I am only jesting, I am sure you will do just fine." The child was a little clumbsy, she was not sure how well his training will be. Alatáriël took up another arrow, preparing to take another shot at the at the target. "What kind of mischief are you getting into today?" Alatáriël asked, grinning and wagged a finger at Ellroher. "Do not think I didn't see you bothering Hadi."
(Oh, this is not very good, I'm having a bit of a writers block)

(Really? It looks good to me.)
Ellroher was confused. Adults were always telling him that disaster would happen when he became old enough to weild a weapon. He had no idea why they would say that. When ever he would ask why, they would always reply, "Ask your father. It's going to be Elrohir and Ellandan all over again." Ellroher asked his father what they ment by that but his father just said that they were only joking. Although Ellroher didn't see what was so funny about it.
"What kind of mischief are you getting into today?" Alatariel asked. Another question adults seemed to always ask him. "I wasn't bothering him. I was just watching." Ellroher said defencively. "Captain Hadi lets me come down and watch the solder's training. He even gives me tips for when I start my training. I already know how to weild a sword, spear, and shield." He paused and lowered his head. "I just don't have any small enough for me to practice with." His head poped up and he smiled broadly. "But Captain Hadi says that father is getting me some equipment of my own so I can start trainging." He watched Alatariel shoot the targets. Standing beside her, and a little back so as not to distract her, he mimiced her stance and her movments as she fitted an arrow and pulled it back. After a few tries, Ellroher had gotten the movement down perfict. When Alatariel had fired all of her arrows, Ellroher asked, "Lady Alatariel, are you married?"

(I can do a lot better, but I think I'm lacking the right muse right now)
Alatáriël saw the confused look on Ellroher's face. He did not look happy with her words. Folk around the realm must say things like that often. As if she knew what he was thinking, she said, "Your father was a disaster when he first trained. He actually nearly shot the instructor at the archery range." Alatáriël laughed at the memory. "Just because he was a disaster does not mean you will be." However, Alatáriël felt as if she didn't make the situation any better. "I am sorry, Ellroher," she said patting him on the shoulder. "If it seemed like so, meant not to make fun, but only just to tease you."
I just don't have any small enough for me to practice with. "Is that so?" said Alatáriël. "I would have assumed that you had received your first weapons by now. I still have mine somewhere." Alatáriël looked at her bow. She was quite tall and her bow nearly her height. Her father's bow was much taller in height than her own. She tried to pick it up once when she was small, but it tipped over and she went with it. Alatáriël pulled another arrow from her quiver and continued to shoot at the target. She noticed Ellroher copying her exact stance and movements, as if though he wanted to shoot like she did. Alatáriël just smiled. Although she was not trying to be a teacher, she did not mind that he was trying to learn from her.
When Alatáriël had fired her last arrow, she set her bow down and removed her now empty quiver and set right next to it. Before she could make her way to the target to collect her arrows, Ellroher asked, Lady Alatariel, are you married? Alatáriël was a little surprised at his question. She did find it one to be appropriate for a young child to ask an adult, but she decided to let it slide. She looked down at him and answered, "No young one, I am not."
