At that momet there was a loud nois, as if someone had dropped someting hevy. Then an angry voise.
"What now?" Charley asked as she walked towords the door. When she opened it, it showed a sceen where an angry Rayes was holding Melian by his hair.
"What is going on?" Charley asked in a strict tone.
"This little rat were eavesdropping on your conversation capt'n," Rayes said in a serius tone, but he seemed to have a hard time trying not to smile. He then let him go, so he was standing rigth in front of Charley.
"Is that correct Melian?" she asked him.
"Aye capt'n," he said looking down on his feet. Charley gave him a furius look.
"May I suggust whiping capt'n," Rayes said whit an almost amused voise.
"Maby," she said looking at rayes now.
Melian was crushed, he could not belive that he was cougth. He was really sorry, and Rayes where not making it bether by suggusting things. He now tryed to get eye contact whit Shalem, he saw sitting in the cabin. Maby she would help him a bit. He diddin't know if she would, but he feelt he had nothing to lose.

Shalem wished she could help Melian and gave him an encorageing smile, but he had deseved his punishment. Suddenly she had an idiea. She came over to beside Charley. "Melian why were you listening to us?" she asked kindly.

He looked up at them giving SHalem a thankful look, "Well, I em, wonted to know what was going on, capt'n. Where we were going, and why. I diddent plan it, I promise. I just heard what you told shalem about the isl.."
"Get in here," Charley interupted him. Some of the crew members had started to watch them. "And you, back to work!" she shouted before walking inside. Rayes walked after her closing the door. "Continue," she said.
Mellian cuntinued," well em, about the island, and the tresure." now he looked down again. "I had no idea it was this big."
"Did it cross your mind that you wherent supposed to know, boy?" she asked him.
"well, I knew that. em. I am sorry." he said. "but well everybody is wondering about it, capt'n."
"I got that you heard what you wished to hear then." she said irritated. "Yes Rayes whiping. But you lissen to me boy, if you speacke the word fo this I will give you a punichment that you can not even imaigen." she said.
Rayes who were no longer trying not to smile, gave a grim grin, "five laches then?" he asked.
"Three, now go!" she said.
Rayes seemed to wont to arguee but left whit Melian, dragging him by one arm. Melian gave a sad and scared look, but did not resist.

"I'l make sure he dosn't tell the others Cap'n...a fear can only go so far." She walked outside and snarled at the crew. "Well don't watch it...get on with you're work as the Cap'n said!" She walked over to Rayes, she didn't trust him, and suspected him of planning to give Melain five at least, well she wouldn't let him. "Well? Arn't you going to do it?" she asked when he looked at her. She didn't look at Melain. he deserved his punishment and she wasn't one to argue with the cap'n.

"Thank you," Chalrey said whit an angry voise, she was not angery with Shalem, but at the moment she did not care how she spoke. Then she walked inside the cabin again.
Rayes gave Shalem a smile,"Of course, I just have to get it." he said letting go of Melian, "remove your shirt, boy" he comanded him. "Make sure he stays, aye!" he said and walked away to find his whip. Melian did what he was told slowly, not looking at Shalem.
It did not take long before Rayes returned: "You wont to do it?" he asked Shalem, "sence you seem so enthusiastic I mean."

"No, i would not give him what he deserves, i am freinds with him and therefore i would be kind...also i obay the Cap'n, and she told you to give him three lashes, not me." She said darkly.

"Right then," he said. Melian took a grip of some ropes. Closing his eyes.
Rayes lifthe the whip and gave him the first lash, and Melian screemed. Then the second and the third. Melian stoped holding his breth. Then Rayes raised the whip for the fourth time.

Shalem darted foreward and grabbed the whip. "The Captain said three sir..." she pused looking up into his eyes. "If you must whip something then at least give the lashes to me as his freind and than him." She said in a low voice.

He gave her a furius look, but said in a low voise, "I would love to. But no." he then said in a normal voise. "Oh I am sorry, I tost track of countling."
Melian who had turned to se what was happening. He gave Shalem a thankful look.

"A mistake anyone could make." she said in reply noramlly, she gave a small nod to Melain. "Please excuse me sir, i have duties to perform." she disappered amoungst the men and began washing the deck with some others.

Melian took his shirt on again, and got himselfe as far away from Rayes as possible.
Jack the other hand had been one of the crewmembers watching the soon earlyer. And he wonted to konw what the rest ot the sentens: "I just heard what you told shalem about the isl.."
He saw her and walked over to her. He stood over her, owatching her wash a bit then said: "Hallo there Shalem."

"Nothing" she apused and looked up at him siloetted against the sun. "Nothing that concerns you. Melain just got wipped for trying to find out and i'v no doubt Rayes would mind wipping you too. I'm sorry Jack but i can't say anything."
