Detailed History
Cyrith’s mother and father were from a poor village where it was an everyday struggle to survive. Work and food was hard to come by and slave trades were scattered in some areas in the East Lands. Early one morning, and with out warning, slavers ambushed their village, taking some of it’s people captive to sell of into slavery. Cyrith’s mother was among them. The rest of the villagers, along with Cyrith’s father were killed and their homes burned.
Her mother was then sold to a cruel slave owner in Near Harad for a mere few pieces of gold, only to find out later that a woman was with child and was useless to him and just another mouth to feed. During the later months of her pregnancy, she was often tended to by an orphaned slave boy named Gwiryn who had looked to her as a mother figure. Cyrith was born in late winter but the young mother died birthing her and Cyrith was orphaned from birth. Gwiryn then claimed the infant as a little sister.
Being born into slavery, Cyrith found herself working hard labor at only but a few years old. At the tender age of 5, while most children who lived a normal healthy life, such as playing with toys and what not, Cyrith was working hard, long hours of harsh labor. Her owner’s belief was that as long as a child could walk, they could work, no excuse.
Cyrith attempted a reckless escape at the age of 10, but she only ended up being hunted down the master's dogs. She was then brought back and tied to a tree and whipped as a punishment for trying to escape. Her master's men had threatened to put her to death if she ever tried to escape again. She was left tied to the tree all night and was not released until dawn.
She met a boy named Alfarr when she was 12 and he become her closet friend. Alfarr loved her and wanted to marry her one day. He vowed that he would wed her when they were free someday. Cyrith thought his were dreams futile, for she believed that they would never be free. She also did not love Alfarr as he loved her, she only thought him as a dear friend.
When she was 13, Cyrith was sent to work as a servant girl in the master's house. It was there she met an elderly woman called Rhelith who was a long time servant of the master. She was old enough to be Cyrith's grandmother and she looked up to old woman and often addressed her as Grandmama. She even made a small rag doll for Cyrith. Although she was now near the age where she was too old for dolls, but Cyrith was not aware that certain toys fit certain age groups, it was also the only toy she ever had and only gift she had ever received so she treasured the doll.
By the time she was 15 a group of men from nearby Khand arrived looking to purchase a young woman as a concubine for the son of a high ranking official, who's wife had only produced daughters and a son was needed and they were interested in purchasing the young slave woman. Although Cyrith was not the fairest of women, she was physically strong and very healthy and that sparked an interest in the men. They believed that a strong, healthy woman could produce a strong healthy son. However, they wanted a 16 year old woman and Cyrith was still a season shy of it. But the men were eager to purchase her and would wait until she was of suitable age. Furious over this, Gwiryn was determined to find a way to free his sister from slavery and of her fate. Alfarr also joined their cause, refusing to see her meet such a fate himself. In secret, Cyrith, Gwiryn and Alfarr, tried to train themselves in swordsmanship and self defense while working on an escape plan.
When Cyrith had turned 16 that very winter, she knew the men who aimed to purchase her would waste no time and come back for her. Then, late one night, after their master had gone to sleep, putting their escape plan into action, Cyrith and her brother headed for the master’s house while their companion went to rid of his dogs so that they would not bark and give them away. The two siblings murdered their master and stole some of his money and fled into the night, escaping to the land of Rhûn.
Cyrith later married Alfarr. Although they were runaway slaves and poor, they were fortunate enough to find a minister from a local village that would marry them for nothing in return. Alfarr went as far as to steal gold wedding bands for them since he hadn’t the money to have any made. Although their marriage was consummated, it was more for title rather than love, even though Alfarr loved her. It was aimed to claim Cyrith as Alfarr’s property and no one else had the right to her, to protect her, in case anything were to happen to her brother.
Within only a few months of marriage, Alfarr and Gwiryn fell very ill the following winter and both died shortly before her 17th year. She was all alone with no one to protect her. Cyrith was now left to fend for herself in a harsh world. She grieved much of her brother and husband’s deaths. Later on, she met a young man who was a career thief. It was from him that she learned how to become a master pickpocket. She tagged along with him until she was 19 years old, learning what ever she could from him and then they went separate ways.
A year later at 20 years, Cyrith had met a poor homeless man who had taught her all the best ways to survive alone in the wild. From him, she had mastered the skill of hunting and the proper identification of certain beats and plants, how to protect herself from the beasts of the wild and how to become fearless of them. The two parted a year later and Cyirth had been only her own since she was 21 years old.
Cyrith is poor and homeless and steals what she can to survive. She often wanders around Rhûn, spending most of her time living out in the wild. She sometimes will find odd jobs here and there, whether for money or a meal, she doesn’t care which, for they both are helpful. When she manages to come across money, she will spend time at Inns and Taverns for a hot meal and a bed to sleep in. She will take up certain aliases to any stranger that she may speak with.
