Hallo. The game LOTR: conquest is coming this fall. It is a game looking like star wars battlefront one and two and it is made from them as well, be evil or good, would be a nice game, and as far as I know there will be 6 soldiers including warrior, archer, scout, mage, and guardian. The evil campaign is featured after frodo fails his journey and the good campaign is started with Battle of the last alliance as a training battle

Isn't it kinda weird to make a game on something that didn't happen in the books?

i have had trouble with the Internet connection and have been doing school work. Well to answer your question it would be to add a new and completely or(almost completely) original part of the game. And thank good that there will be NPC on online play since if it wasn't there would be 4 vs 4 matches all around. I have also heard that they will go trough the things wee see`s in the movies or read in the book(s) but make the evil side win. and on the last scenario play as Saouron after be made back into his original form and destroy Imaldris/Rivendell

I understand that developers add things like that to give the player more options. Most people who play such a game will not have read the books, and if they managed to stay awake while watching the movies, they will not have understood most of it; so they must figure 'why bother'. Hell, I bet the developers only know so much about Arda themselves. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.
Back when I had a Playstation, I bought the ROTK game developed by Electronic Arts. It was one of those games that were made to be released exactly when the movie it was based on came out; so I suppose I knew the creators would have had to rush it. It wasn't bad, but not as good as it could be, and had little replay value, which is what I looked for when buying games, because they're so expensive.
I do think games based on LOTR can be fun for readers of the books. I mean if it's a good game and there's some Tolkien in it, that's great, right? If things not being exactly as it is in the books doesn't bother you, that is. I've never actually played such a game, but I think that if I could have chosen between playing a game like Age of Empires or Battle for Middle-earth, thinking AOE is the better game, I would still have chosen for BFME because of the Tolkien aspect.

(wow long time since I posted) Ithvar I think I could not agree with you more, most games of movies based on books is made to please the movie watcher not the book readers, and I am reading the books again now, but I kinda liked the idea thougth since it is a bit fun with stuff wich you dont have the correct answer too in a sec or three. Other than that I am looking forward for it since I loved Star wars batllefront II(2).
