AnnúminasAncient Seat of the Kings of ArnorThe City of the Kings of Arnor- was a title bestowed upon this place. On the northern shores of Nenuial, near the sources of Baraduin, this city was founded by Elendil himself. For several centuries Annúminas was the chief city of the Kings of Arnor- and was home to one of the palantiri of the North Kingdom. The city depended widely upon the supply of water from Baraduin- it was also a way to communicate with the outside world rather then venture and mountains that framed the city. The hills of Evendim surrounded the city on the south and west shores- where the people could reach other Dundedain hosts via the river. In the early days of Arnor this place was one of the glories of Middle Earth. It is suggested that it survived for over a thousand years, before its numbers began to dwindle. In which the population decreased ever so that even the Kings removed themselves East to Fornost. After the city’s desertion, it fell into decay. When Aragorn’s coronation came about after the War of the Ring, at the end of the Third Age it is said that he re-found the city after almost two thousand years of desertion and rebuilt it- and restored it to its former glory.
