From the Iron Hills and Erebor a large force of Dwarves was being assembled. Dain I had called forth for four thousand dwarves to assemble so that they could claim and or conquer the river city of Dale that lay but ten miles from the mountains. Dain I was under pressure from Frar II of Moria, who, had recently captured his son and was now holding him, forcing Dain I to do his bidding. The army moved forward from the hills and made their way towards and unsuspecting Dale. They reached the city and there was still not resistance that met them. The Mayor of the town came forward to the wall with a rather confused look upon his face and spoke to the general of the Dwarven army. The dwarven general explained that Dain I was taking control of the city of Dale and the Mayor was rather shocked. Whenever the Mayor asked for a reason the General gave none and ordered the surrender of the city. The men and women of Dale were obviously in no condition to fight the dwarven army that had come against them, and, at the same time were confused on why they should. The Mayor requested that they were given the day to think over the proposal. The General agreed but said that no one could leave or enter the city. Thus..the siege began.
