She sighed theatriclly; grinning all the while.
"Fiiiine. I'l go talk to Rayes once you've talked to the Captain."
Toni did not quite jump for joy; though he did perform a small jig and ran off to find Hudsen.
"Well Mel; looks like you'll be shareing your bunk space." she laughed

Shalem first went over to Hudsen who was trying to cope with a very excited Toni.
"Lass; please tell me this was your idea; maybe you can say otherwise."
"'fraid it was his own. And though I think its a bad idea; its just starting earlier on what I did. I worked my way up inland and then came to the sea as a last resort. But thier's richer pickings at sea for a lad like him, though he'l be without familly."
"Aye. Well i must first speak to his aunt and little Tsumalia."
"Fair enough. This is from Rayes for our passage." so saying she handed over the coins.
"Y'didn't need to pay lass; we're pleased to have you on board."
"Aye...but its only right...plus it annoys Rayes." she grinned then left to try and persuade him to take Toni if Hudsen agreed.
Shalem spied Rayes and approched him slwoly.

Rayes saw Shalem coming. Seeing her look he knew she wonted something, "Now what? The rat wonted more coins?"

Normally she would have had some quick reply ready, but now she bit it back.
"No, he is very greatful for your generosity." She said without a tinge of rebuke in her voice. "But there is a young boy, he wishes to join the crew and wished me to ask your permission. He is a good lad, he knows the land and could act as a guide, and hes strong and willing." Her face was blank as her voice was neutral, but her body language was subserviant, she was for once giveing him all the power and acting as he expected her too.
