Detailed History
Elsúrië's mother was a Noldorin Elf from Ost-in-Edhil and her father a Silvan Elf of Lórien. (called Laurelindórenan at the time) Her mother fled from Ost-in-Edhil when it was attacked by Sauron's forces in the year 1697 of the Second Age. She and a group of Elves ran for a secret passage in the mountains that would lead them north to the refuge of Imladris, but she became lost in the chaos and ended up heading south and was found by her father near the borders of Lórien, who at the time was a border guard. They later married and Elsúrië was born during the year 2202.
Elsúrië grew up in a environment among the Galadhrim Guard, her father was a guard Member and so was her grandfather. Having been exposed to it, Elsúrië always had an interest in fighting and in weaponry. Her father, happy with the fact that his daughter took an interest in the guard introduced her to weapons young. Elsúrië's grandmother, however, disliked the idea. Although she believed that an elleth could easily learn the skill of fighting, she did not believe that one should be a warrior.
Elsúrië is an old Quenya name, a language long forgotten among the Elves. Her mother was of the Noldor race and although the use of Quenya was not encouraged, it was given anyway, but she would call her Elsulien, the Sindarin Equivalent of the name. She was later called Eruraina by her grandparents, which is the name she now addresses herself as.
During the 2227, Elsúrië and her parents left Lothlórien and journeyed to Imladris. Her mother was looking to seek out any family or friends that may have fled to the realm after Ost-in-Edhil was destroyed. But while crossing over the Misty Mountains, they were ambushed by Orcs. Elsúrië's parents and their escorts were all killed. Her father covered his young daughter with his body, to protect her and keep her hidden from the Orcs. This act had saved her life.
She was left alone in the mountains for hours. Every sound that she had heard frightened her. She was later found and rescued by the Galadhrim. Still only a child, not even at coming of age, she was brought back to Lórien where she dwelled in the home of her grandparents.
During the year 3202 of the Second Age, when Elsúrië was 1000 years pass, she approached the Galadhrim captain, Haldir and requested to be trained, with desire to join the guard. She wanted to take her father's former place on the border. She also wanted to offer her service to Galadhrim warriors after they had rescued her years ago. Elsúrië spent many years training, however, her training was unknowing to her grandparents until the year 3280 when she was officially assigned as a Member of the guard.
Elsúrië approached them, with the signed parchment in hand, she informed them that she had joined the guard, with a oath sworn. Several times, her grandmother tried to change the elleth's mind but she refused. Although they were not happy with Elsúrië's decision, they gave up and left their granddaughter to do what she pleased knowing that they no longer had a say, but they worried everyday for her safety.
During the year 3430, when the Last Alliance was formed and the threat of war grew, Elsúrië's grandparents were now weary of Middle-earth and desired to journey to the Havens and take a ship across the Great Sea and take their granddaughter with them. However, Elsúrië reminded them of the oath she had taken and was not going to sail with them. She faired them well at the borders and watched them ride off with a number of escorts until she could no longer see them.
By the year 3434, many of Elves of Lórien marched to the plains of Mordor and battled against Sauron and his minions during the Battle of Dagorlad. Elsúrië remained behind and kept watch over the borders. The Elves of Lórien also took part in the Battle of Fornost, another war that Elsúrië was not in.
A Balrog was awakened in Khazad-dûm during the year 1980 of the Third Age. With Lothlórien laying close to Moria, many began to fear the threat of attacks, so many of the Elves fled the realm, along with it's Lord Amroth and his beloved, Nimrodel. She became lost in the White Mountains and Amroth drowned in the Bay of Belfalas, leaving Lórien without a ruler. Then Galadriel and Celeborn returned to Lothlórien and began it's new Lord and Lady.
By the year 2460, when Sauron reclaimed Dol Guldur and the Watchful Peace ended, Orc attacks became a constant threat. Lórien begun to close it's borders and the Elves lived in isolation from the outside world. It soon became a place of fear among men. Elsúrië spent most of her time out of the borders, and was not seen often in the city.
During the War of the Ring, Elsúrië and her fellow Galadhrim comrades were sent to aid the people at Helm's Deep. Nearly all had been slain. Only herself and a couple others had survived. Badly wounded, she was sent back to Lothlórien to heal and recover. Even though the physical wounds have healed, the emotional ones never really had. She had witnessed the slaughter of her own mother and father and then watched as all her fellow comrades were slain. As soon as she recovered from her battle wounds, she no longer desired to be a guard and requested from Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel to be removed from the job.
Today however, she is now the Steward of Lórien. She still spends most of her time in the Golden Wood, often walking the grounds of her beloved home. Although she is no longer a border guard, she still sometimes seen sitting up high in the trees, watching the borders, still holding on the oath she had sworn under long ago, to always to watch over and protect the realm.
