Ratha had been busy all night. He had been reading up on Folklore on the two Palantirs sunk to the depths of the Ocean, not far away. He was going to probe the woman in black who he had meet only yesterday. There was much unknown power and he wanted to harness it. Ratha was the most intellectual of the Wraiths. He sucked up knowledge never forgetting, always analyzing waiting for when it would be of use. It helped him understand those he fought. He learnt lessons from mistakes made thousands of years past. He would enter this womans mind and suck it of Knowledge and power, if she wouldn't tell him herself. He would have to try everything possible. He even liked this woman a little, perhaps he would make her into a wraith... It was possible, but he would wait and see. Ratha rose silently and strode to where she slept. There would be lessons learnt today.

Kalidul stired slightly as the temperature in the room plummeted and opened her eyes slowly. Black robes Last night Ratha The dragon....she still didn't know its name. She sat up the blancket falling down to her waist. Her newly washed hair shone in the weak morning sunlight fighintits way though high windows into this heart of the fortress. Her soft white skin shone softly and she smelt of soap. Removeing her glance from him she saw her own clothes and got off the sofa; her white nightrobe fluttered around her as she crossed the room to them; left there by the servants.
The nightgown was low cut and thin enough that she decided to put her dress on over the top. It felt diffrent. She inspected it carefully; the waist had been brought back in so that it fitted like a glove to her slender frame. The simple gold embriodary that had been covered with grime for so long had been cleaned up so that it shone though they had been unable to repair it in the vast tracks where it had been destroyed. The cloth had been softened and gently perfumed; it wafted over her as she swung her black cloak round her shoulders.
She walked softly back over to him; but despite her demenor and gentle attire her eyes were rock hard and cold. He was diffrent this morning; and she sensed last nights questions had not been idel. "Today is the day of reckoning; itsn't it Ratha." It was not a question. Today was the day she would be made to pay back everything and more.

Ratha looked on upon her weak form. He breathed out, "Yes, today is the day." He turned to away and said to her "You have spent a long time doing what you will, today you find out who you really are. Tell me what do you know from your past?" Ratha needed to know, he had a suspicion this woman had her memory destroyed. It often happened when a huge release of energy, often magic occurred. It may have been emotional strain, or bang to the head. However Ratha hoped for the first, it would be far more interesting. He looked back at her and stood fully erect darkening the room slightly and becoming slightly sinister. If she wouldn't tell him he would scare it out of her, if that did not work torture. He had been practicing for the past 300 years...

Her heart lept within her. Did he know who she was? Could he help her? But then the room darkened and he towered over her. A look of disapointment flitted though her eyes. He didn't know. He was trying to force it out of her. She immidiately became defensive and stared back at him hautily. "My past is my own buissness Ratha. I thankyou for your hospitality but it is not something i wish to share with someone of whome i know scare little. I know ones like you; you belive knowledge to be power; and i give no one power over me." She replied coldly to his question her eyes flashing.

Ratha looked on in disappointment. He had hoped she would just tell him, it would lessen her suffering. He shook his head and turned to her "Tell me, for the last time or it will get painful. Remember I can kill you through fear alone! Do not make me force it out of you. This fortress is not a good place, the dungeons are deep and few exit them. Do you remember anything? Anything important?" He applied a little fear upon her just so she would feel it deep in her gut. Unless she was uncommonly resilient she would feel extremly uncomfortable.

Kalidul shuddered as fear racked through her. Yet she knew this was his doing; not her own natural reaction. Anger combined with her anguish so that she strode over to him looking up into his hooded head and almost spat her words. "You think that I fear pain or death? I have lost EVERYTHING Ratha! My name, my people, my identity, my memories. Do you think that i would not welcome death? Any pain you inflict on me will be welcomed if it drives away even for one second the pain and endless serching i carry in my heart.." A sob of anger and sorrow escaped her lips and she turned away. "How should I know what is important to a person like you Ratha" she retorted angrily. Why couldn't he understand that she didn't reMember anything? Why did he care? And why the hell did he care enough that he would torture her?

He stood stock still as she screamed her answer at him, so she did not remember her past. Certain things could be done about that, a gentle or sometimes not so gentle reminder was needed. He was impressed by her resilience and hissed. "Well that answers one of my questions. You asked what is important, for you anything would be important anything at all you can remember. Now tell me have you recently felt anything strange? Familiarity to anything? If not I will have to put you in situations where you will have to remember." He knew that she was mystified by his motives. They were simple in a horrible sort of way, she had made him weak because of what had happened last night. However no ordinary women could do this. He had felt something when he had met her a sense of power in her being.

She paused for a moment; he was right. For her the most important thing would be anything she could remember. But then hatred flashed though her eyes and she did not care if he knew it. However she brought herself back under control and gave him a look of pure disgust and arrogance. "Do your worst Ratha; I'm not hideing anything from you. I know nothing." she hissed She tought back on her life as far as she knew it. "Your dragon. The name, creature and ways are fmailer to me though i have never heard or seen one before. Though that cannot help you in your quest to take from me the last things i have left." She added her eyes flashing venemousely

Ratha was genuinely intrigued. He laughed his bitter laugh and said "Take what? Your dignity? I think I already have that.[/] What about your peace of mind? Nope gone. You have nothing Kalidul, nothing! Why are you so unhelpful? I could make you strong again, powerful beyond your wildest imaginings. You wish to find out your past then help me I will help you become great. You said you knew the ways of the dragon, what else can you remember? The dragon you knew ? Rain upon your face or the feel of a man choking out his life on your sword point?" He looked at her hoping she would help him, it would speed everything up and he had another project which needed attending to.

Eyes filled with hate stared at him as he goaded her. Yes; he'd taken her dignity last night; and now he dared use it against her! Tears sprang to her eyes; he was right. She did have nothing. She was nothing. "I don't want power Ratha if this is what power dose to you. All i want is my memory back."
Why did he want to know? But he was right; they both wanted the same things; and she had nothing, she might as well tell him.
"Do you not think i have not gone over everything i can remember about that first day?" she sighed before reliveing the experiance.
"There was a flash of white light and tints of gold, the sound of light explodeing. I am on the ground with my ear lobes bleeding and a soreness round my neck. My clothes are ripped and the sun is burning on my face whitch has been pressed into the stones. I do not know where i am, who i am, and something or someone is missing or taken." so vivid were the memories that her tears began to flow and she collapsed onto the floor. "I feel such anger and pain and i don't know why." For a few minits she could say nothing "Seeing your dragon...it reminded me off that day. Eventually I managed to pull myself together enough to start looking. But i still don't know what for." She raised tear stained eyes to him in anger and sorrow. "Now you know everything I do Ratha. Do what you will."

Ratha chuckled as she talked. Yet another pitiful story, he had broken her she had given in. She said she did not want power like him but that was just not true. Two months with a ring on her finger and she would kill for a bit of power, many had for less reasons. He looked over the crying form in front of her and said "My, my sounds like an explosion. Now an explosion like that can be caused by a few things, the orcs explosive powder or a massive release of energy from an unbelievably strong being. Perhaps a dragon, it has happened once or twice before deep in the northlands where the dragons dwell. On a last ditch attempt to defend themselves and their kin they let the fire in their heart touch their stomach and KABLAAM! Huge explosion! Huh, a dragon must have loved or hated you a lot to that. But why would that happen?" He said that question almost to himself, with a swift turn and a flick of his wrist for her to follow he set of to his study. From the huge expanse of shelves he picked up a book in elvic which roughly translated as The Human Brain and Response to Force he also picked up another by surprisingly enough an orc who had worked in the beast pits looking after Dragons this one was called Dragons: An in depth look into behaviour and motives he would have yet another look at how this conundrum may have happened.

Kalidul followed almost mechanincally knowing she was beaten, but he had hulimliated and brokn her and she hated him for it. If she ever got the chance she would hurt him as he had hurt her. She sank down in a chair in his study; her eyes flickering over the books. "The Human Brain and Responses to Force...are you going to tourture me Ratha?" She asked tieredly; not even registering she was reading elvish. She thought on what he had said; had a dragon tried to kill her that way? She tried to imagine it. The image of a huge golden dragon like the sun filed her vision and the tears once more returned to her eyes at the thought of such a thing dieing.

Ah, Ratha thought something else she can do, she can read elvish she must be from some kind of important group or cult. Ratha read on, it turned out that the brain remembered certain specialized skills sometimes when all other memory was lost. He could make her do some exercises and see what happened. Give her a cloth and needle, a knife, a horse or maybe even a dragon and see what happened. Without looking up from his book he said "No, not yet. I will try to do it the normal way and if not I will cut you, don't you worry. Did you know that dragons are one of the most loyal of all beasts? It says here that they can become heavily attached to certain objects. Such as that blasted thing Smaug, he loved his gold. However once a dragon has been properly tamed they lose most of their intellect? There are some ways to keep them intelligent, but honestly who would want to ride a clever dragon? They would be most troublesome." He looked over towards her and noticed she was crying again. This was starting to get tedious. "Stop that woman! If you want something to cry about I will give you to the damn orcs!" He waited a little longer thinking of some kind of test.....

"You don't own me Ratha. Do NOT tell me what to do!" she hissed venemousely. "And your book is wrong. A dragon can be tame and more intelegant than many men." She was on her feet her eyes dark with hate. "Don't ask me how I know" she cut in forstalling the question on his lips "But I know." She took a breath to steady herself. "Go on then Ratha, test me, torture me, treat me like any one of the other women you bring here as your playthings. But you don't own me. Never forget that." She didn't know where this feircely independant streak was comeing from but it and her defensiveness over the dragons shone though like a beacon. "You seem like a cruel and heartless man Ratha; how about you just skip to the torture; becuase if you think i havn't tried everything else then your stupid as well." All her anger and hatred that had been building up within her over the last months was directed at him. If looks could kill, if fact if Kalidul had the power to hurt him in anyway he would be dead by now.

Her sudden outbursts, were starting to irritate him. And that was a terrible thing to do. He snapped his book shut and viciously turning to her he picked her up and pinned her up against a wall holding her up by the throat by a gauntleted fist. "I DO own you. You are nothing at the moment, you were once a great and powerful person. And for both our benefits I shall make you powerful again. You are right, I was stupid. Someone as pig headed and stubborn as you is only going to respond to torture. I'm going to take you to my workshop. It is a small 'homey' I like to keep my tools and a few pet projects of mine......" He dropped her onto the floor and let out a guttural scream and two orcs scurried into the room. "Gorl, Hath take her to the work shop. Strap her to the wall I will be down shortly. The two orcs ran over to Kalidul, slapping her in irons and tying up her feet. They dragged her off heading down the spiral staircase which lead to the "workshop". The place from which few ever returned. As Ratha watched her loeave he turned to another book on his shelf, one he had been studying quite intensivly. It was called Waterboarding: The Art. OOC: I suggest you look up waterboarding on wikipedia.com
