Shalem and Melain came a few paces after. Shalem turned to her apprentice "You'll come with me, we're going to meet one of the most important and secret men in this city." she grinned before takeing her leave of Charley and darting through a sidestreet.

After about an hour they arrived at an apothocary. Shalem walked in smileing and made her way through a door at the back. Immediatly a man shrouded in a hooded cowl stepped out of the shadows behind the door, a sword at each of thier throughts. "I'm afaid your ney allowed back 'ere" said a voice with a lilting accent. "We've come to consult the Shaman" "Really, well what proof av you got that one even exists lassie" in answer thunder rolled overhead. "I am Shalem of the Sail Tribe; weather-worker. This is my appentice Melain." The man nodded and withdrew his swords "Sorry, can't be too careful, up the stair and too the left."

Melian followed surprised by the power Shalem had, he had to remind himself that she ones was a captain.
He kept close to Shalem while trying to not look at the man, he had really scared him.

Shalem gave him a fleeting grin, before her face slipped back into its mask of one who expected and desved respect. She led him past other wardens untill they reached a door. "Do not look at him, kneel" Another warden opened the door. Shalem took three steps into the room and threw herself to the ground. Waiting for the Shaman to speak.
A perfectly ordinary Gondorian stood before them. "Whitch tribe are you from?" he asked in a mild voice "For only Gypsies are allowed entrace here." "Sail sire. Shalem; child of Migran the Weather Witch. And Melain my apprentice." "Hmmmm...Melain, that is not a Sail name. Whitch tribe are you from boy?" Shalem nudged him to answer, still not raiseing her face from the floor.

Melian lay down on his knees, consentrating on the floor.
He hesetated before awnsering the question. He did not know anything about his family, and he had never been asked if he was in a tribe before. "I am only a poor pirate from Corsair, sire," he said hopeing the awnser was good enought, tho he had a feeling it was not. He followed Shalems example and did not rais his head.

"A foringer. I did not realise Sail had let thier standerds drop so much, we do not take outsiders as our apprentices." The shaman sneered. "The boy is talented and has much potential. You know my history, you know why I sail the seas instead of the Rivers. Is it not right i take an apprentice from the sea." "Talented? A Weatherworker? Worthy of us" mockingly said. "No, he is not a weather worker" "Then you have betrayed our people my dearest..." Shalem jupped to her feet, breaking through everyrule of ettiquette ever taught to her. She strode over to the Shamen who looked deeply unimprssed and snarled at him. "To begin with, most reverend one, the Sail Tribe are the greatest upholders of Our traditions amoung all the Clans. Secondly, if I think that he is worthy of being taught swordplay, swordplay that i have lernt from all people not just the Tribes, then he is worthy, and thridly, most venerated farther, I have never betrayed my people and i never will do." she almost spat at him in anger. He gave the smallest of smiles. "You really are a Daughter of Sail Tribe my dearest. Get off the floor boy, if your mistress thinks you worthy to be taught by her then you are worthy to stand." "Now whats you're probelm?" Shalem looked at him in disbelif for a few moments before bowing in thanks and telling him her tale.
The Old Shaman laughed. "I bet you never thought it'd happen to you hey? So sure you could conquer the Sea. Queen of the Rivers untill you were betrayed. If i wasn't so clver i'd say you were unlucky girl. Here." he tossed her a small poutch tied to a leather necklace. "What's this?" "Its the Sea spirits that are after you. You have to go back to sea, so why not bring the land with you?" "Thats it?" "Thats it. Now payment" Shalem shook her head "No servitude. I have duites elsewhere." "Hmmm, well in that case I want one of these Sea Spirits." "WHAT???" "Its perfectly simple. When you've finally conquered them, whitch you'll have to do if you ever want to control the winds again, then you simply trap one in the bag of earth and bring it back to me. Agreed?" Shalem looked at the poutch of dirt, then out the window where she could just see the sea tossing. "Fine" she cut her palm and dripped the blood onto the sack. "I'l bring you your spirit. Cum'on Melain." she turned around and hurried out. The Shaman winked at Melain and laughed.

Melian stood up. He hated quite much that they had argued about him. He seemed to have his own way of getting into trouble, but this seemed like it was just over his head.
He stood like he was told to, then he listened on the conversation that he understood little of. He was unsure what to believe. This was some weird type of magic. He had seen what had happened to shalem on the wave, he hoped this would help. Even if it sounded dangerous.
When Shalem left, he saw the Shaman wink, witch confused him even more. Then he followed her out.

They quickly passed through the house and out again through the streets. Only when they were a good way off did Shalem take the bag out and tie it round her neck. She tucked it beneath her cloths. "I hate going to see him, he makes himself out to be the wiseist man in the world, the most powerful tribe member and then produces the simplest answer attatched to the highest price I could pay. And the annoying thing is I can't afford to have someone like him as my enemy." she sighed "He seemed to like you though. Be careful. Now where will Charley be?"
