Khamul rode up the narrow pass to Gar'tan, six other Nazgul following him. As they reached the gate, Khamul spoke some words incomprehensible to the guards and the gates opened. The gaurds knew Khamul was, or at least had been a friend of Christian and of Forodwaith, so they let him pass. A message was obviously sent to the commander of the fortress, possibly Christian.
Outside the fortress, the eighth Nazgul commanded the army to move up into the fortress, while Khamul moved into the gatehouse with the other Nazgul. All seven Nazgul inside the gatehouse started to speak, their words were incomprehensible to all but the wisest. The army started to move up towards the Gate. Khamul left the other Nazgul to their work and went to speak to one of the guards, "Tell your master that there is an army of men heading towards this fortress, killing everything in it's way - Only one of my scouts survived to tell me of them, and he had two arrows through his left arm. I doubt any of yours will have made it. My army is approaching the gates and will be ready to help defend in an hour or so." The guard obeyed and Khamul went back into the gatehouse.
Ten minutes later, Khamul's army was beginning to march, unchallenged through the main gate. The bulk of the army manned the walls, whilst some remained behind the gate as it closed. Twenty minutes later a second army came into view on the horizon, it was too far away to tell numbers but it would have arrived in an hour, Khamul sent a second messenger to the commander of the fortress, notifying him of the appearance of the enemy army. The Nazgul finished their magic.
