A large man and a boy with shoulder length black hair stood in the middle of the courtyard practice swords in hands. The youth ran his hands through his black hair that was now a bit wet from sweat. Moving back he lifted his sword in time to deflect a blow from the large man. The attacks became faster and harder for the youth to try and block let alone attack the man back. Finaly the large man landed a blow on the youths sword arm causing him to let out a grunt of pain as his sword dropped to the paved courtyard with a small clatter of wood on rock.
"Hmph, you've still got a lot to learn Barrick" The large man said as he stepped back and watched as Barrick gave his arm a rub, knowing it would hurt for a while and probably leave a decent sized bruise. Barrick sat down on a large wooden bench and tipped some cool water from his canteen over his head. "Enough training for today Chaven." Barrick said in a commanding tone, although he still was not used to giving orders. The large man gave small bow before heading back inside. Barrick didn't know what his father had liked about that man but he had always been there for the family, he had heard stories of Chaven saving his fathers life on many occasions and was always at his fathers side giving advice. Sometimes Barrick thought Chaven was purposely trying to hurt and humiliate him.
Barrick took a gulp from the canteen and let his breath catch up with him, looking at his arm he saw the making of a bruise showing on his arm. He watched Chaven dissapeared inside the keep. 'If my father trusted him then i guess i will aswell.' At the thought of his father his eyes watered up but Barrick composed himself. All that was left of his family was his sister and they were now in charge of a country, in well over their heads he thought. Clenching his fist he pushed the negative thoughts out of his head, one good thing about training was it released some of his built up anger.

"Oh come now Barrick, I'm sure it hurts but you could hide it better ya know," his sister said appearing behind him. Her long black hair was up in a ponytail, and she wore a lightwight shirt with pants and matching boots. He could see she had her sais in their appropriate holsters, one on each side.
Ana walked over to her brother and looked at the wound then kissed his cheek, "You'll live. You'll be king when your old enough, we can't have your eyes water, what will the people say?" She asked mockingly, sitting beside him. "I thought you did better than you have ever before. Keep it up," she told him encouragingly, smiling. Ana was by no means the ruling type so she was glad he'd take a majority of the power and not she.

"It's not my arm thats hurting" Barrick replied in a dry tone as he watched his sister sit beside him. Barrick couldn't help but notice she was dressed in male clothes. She had done this for a while now, he remembered her being punished by their father for not dressing like a princess of the throne should but she was stubborn and no one could change her mind, looking again he could have sworn those were his pants aswell. Reaching behind him he grabbed a shirt similar to the one Ana wore but it had an intricate black pattern running down one side.
"Im to young to be king." Barrick said softly to his sister. "Anyway you were the one born 1st it's your right." He said giving her a playfull punch on the arm.

She smirked, "You're the male though, so you get the automatic right. Plus, I don't want that power. I crave something else far sweeter than the power invested in Harad," she told her brother. Then she jumped up and stood in front of. "Come duel me brother, let's see who is truly better," she smirked.

Barrick slowly got to his feet taking another gulp of water from his canteen before placing it back on the bench. He pulled the shirt he had just put on back over his head and chucked it on the bench. Clothing he found constricting, sheding it he felt like his limbs were free. His eyes darted to the practice swords then down to his sword which lay beside them. It was an intricate piece of work, belonging to their father and his fathers before him, to this day not one piece of rust showed and it rarely needed sharpinging
"Shall we make this interesting" Barrick said with a glint in his eyes as he reached down and picked up his sword. Turning to face his sister he watched as her hands reached for her sais. He had dueled her before and knew that she had some speed with those blades, lifting his sword he held it so the tip pointed towards her at an angle waiting for her to strike first. "First to draw blood sis" he said his eyes alert and his body tense.

Ana smirked and the held one over her head, the other held out to him, "Yes, first to draw blood," she smirked and waited. She didn't like making the first move, it made her lose an edge that she liked so she'd wait. She knew her brother-however, could be somewhat hasty, all it took was the right setting, and mind you, this was it.

Barrick moved to his left slowly circling with Ana, his sword still held pointing towards Ana, he had learnt alot from Chaven and now was the time to test out some of his new skills. First off he had to see where her weakness was, striking first he brought his sword down towards her collarbone, predicting she would block it he had hardly any power on it. As the two siblings began to exchange blows their blades became a blur of silver lines as the two danced around each other. Their blades glanced off one another too meet again with a clash of steel that echoed through out the courtyard. Barrick steped back slowly taking a deep breath, he had a few beads of sweat dripping down his face and so far none of his blows had been able to get past Anas fast reflexes, he blades kept his from getting past.
"I see you have improved from last time" Barrick said with a smile taking another lung full of air. Stepping back in he brought his sword down again but instead he dropped low on his knee and pushed off with his foot spinning to try and take out her feet, still weary for any strike from above.

"Aye, you too my dear brother, but just wait," she told him, "I'm alot better than you may think, " she told him as he lunged after her.
Kanna jumped so he missed to the side almost knocking her. She rolled then got up again, spinning her sais. Then she threw one at him with amazing speed. Her tactic was meant for him to block that one so that she'd read the opening on his opposite side of the block. It was a technique she had been practicing, mainly to decapitate an enemy.
